The AGM will be held at 7:30 on Sunday 5th February 2012. The Prize Giving will be held on Friday 24th February 2012 at 7:00. Entertainment will be provided by Magic Martin and the guest speaker is Mike Kelly, Chairman of West Midlands RYA. Tickets cost £9 for adults and £1 for juniors aged 16 and under. Sport England have granted Himley Hall Sailing Club lottery funding worth £7,500 to purchase a new safety boat, a RS Feva and additional instructor courses. There is still a bit of paperwork to be sorted out so we're not sure when we will see the new boats on the lake but, when we know, I'll put an annoucement on the website and the facebook page so that you can find out.

Following the cancellation of sailing last week due to the instructors course, we will now be racing every Sunday from 17th October up until 19th December when the mornings racing will be followed by the Christmas Lunch. The only exception is 7th November when we are unable to use the lake until 1pm due to the bonfire in the park on the previous evening. If you are one of our newly qualified members or haven't sailed for a while, please turn up and we will attempt to pair you with an experienced sailor so that you can get into racing.

The Ladies Section are busy organising the last two social events of our 40th Anniversary year. There will be a Cheese & Nibbles Evening on 13th November and the last morning's racing of the year will be followed by the annual Christamas Lunch on 19th December. There will be a working day at the club at 9:30am on Saturday 9th October. Although this is scheduled as a working day, we normally finish around lunchtime and the more volunteers we get, the earlier we finish. We normally spend our time cleaning, tidying and repairing in the galley, classroom, changing rooms and dinghy park. We will also be working on the club boats. Please contact Tony Sutton if you can attend so that we can plan the work to be done.

We will be holding our second adult training course of the year over five Saturdays starting on 4nd September with an induction evening on 2nd September. Please see the training section of this website for more details.

We had our third annual ten pin bowling night on Friday night, and fun was had by most! The music was a bit loud (silly disco with no-one dancing), and the venue seemed to be used as a cheap night out for Wolverhampton folk, but they had pins and balls!

On Saturday 8th May the club will be holding its annual R.L.N.I. event and this year it will take the form of a five hour race, held on Saturday May 8th. Local clubs (or individuals) are invited to enter teams for a fee of £10 per boat and are asked to try to get sponsorship to raise additional funds for the lifeboats.

Over the last 35 years the club has raised in nearly of £91,000 for the R.L.N.I. and has even had a lifeboat named after the club in recognition of its fund raising efforts. Please contact Mary Harris on 01902 341754 if you would like to enter. The race starts at 11am Saturday May 8th and spectators are most welcome.

2010 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of Himley Hall Sailing Club and the club will be holding a "40th Birthday Party" at the Woodfield Sports and Social Club, Penn on Friday 11th June. All members, past and present, are welcome to attend and we are currently searching for former members who we haven’t seen for sometime. We've had three weeks of racing now (out of four planned), and it's not been a bad start to the season. Hopefully the warm weather will come back soon and we can get sailing again straight after Easter!

Pirates Day 2008 was a few weeks ago - you might have seen the picture in the paper. We had a great day, some things went to plan, some things didn't. If you raised any money for the day, please get it to Becky as soon as you can, so we can get it to the RNLI and start it helping to save lives as soon as possible. There's a photo gallery up now too.

Thanks to Colin and everyone at Telford who made Becky and myself feel so welcome last Sunday - the first interclub our club had participated in in a while, and we were the only ones who went, but it was a good day. We came 8/10 in the handicap race after getting stuck in some nasty weed they have in their lake, and 5/10 in the pursuit race (knowing where the weed was that time!). Thanks guys!

Words which came to be regretted, as our 2008 Bala Sailing Trip (the first of two) came to an end. From Friday to Bank Holiday Monday, a good number of us upped and moved to tented accomodation on the shores of lake Bala for a camping sailing weekend.

On June 14th we'll be running a sponsored Junior sailing day in aid of the RNLI. With a pirate theme running throughout, we're planning a fun day. If you're a club member, and are interested in joining in or helping out, please get in touch with Becky Lamb by phone or email through this website.

We're planning a club bowling night, on Friday 18th April at 7:30pm at AMF Express in Wolverhampton (Birmingham New Road). It will cost £9.90 for adults and £7.70 for children, for 2 games and shoe hire.
